My Time Off (MTO)
The My Time Off (MTO) programme gives you the flexibility to take time off when you need it. In most cases, team members are eligible to participate in the MTO programme upon hire.
The MTO programme is made up of paid time off (PTO) and unlimited time off (UTO).
Paid time off (PTO)
Gen provides paid annual leave of 25 days: 20 per the statutory requirements and five extra days from Gen.
Unlimited time off (UTO)
Once you have used your statutory PTO, you can request UTO through your people leader.

Leaves of absence
The information below provides an overview of leaves of absence. You can find more information—including instructions to request a leave—on Gen Central.
Sick leave
From the first through the 14th day of illness, Gen pays the wage compensation for sick leave. Starting with the 15th day, sick pay is provided by the Czech Social Security Administration, transferred via Gen.
Family member care leave
You can take up to nine days to care for a family member, or up to 16 days if you are a single parent. Compensation comes from sickness insurance, beginning on the first day of your leave.
Long-term family member care leave
You can take up to 90 days of long-term family member care leave in a 12-month period when the family member’s general practitioner confirms the need. Compensation comes from sickness insurance, at 60% of the reduced daily assessment base per calendar day.
Maternity leave
Maternity leave starts six to eight weeks before the estimated birth date. Its total duration is 28 weeks for the birth of one child and 37 weeks for the birth of two or more children. During maternity leave, the state pays parents a maternity allowance of 70% of the reduced daily assessment base per calendar day.
Paternity leave
A nonbirthing parent can take 14 days for paternity leave and spend some time with a new family member. Paternity leave must start within six weeks after the birth of the child. Compensation comes from Czech Social Security, at 70% of the reduced daily assessment base per calendar day.
Parental leave
You can take up to three years of parental leave following the birth of your baby. The Labor Office provides a total parental allowance of 300 000 CZK, divided equally into each month of your leave—the longer your leave, the lower the amount of your monthly payments. For more details about the parental allowance, check the Labour Office website.
You can work full time or part time during the period of parental leave.
