Creche allowance

To help with the cost of caring for small children, all female team members and single parents (regardless of gender) who have a child between 4 months and 5 years old are eligible for the creche allowance.

You receive a creche allowance of ₹8,000 per month for each child, up to a maximum of two children.

The creche allowance payment is taxable as per applicable tax laws.

How to claim your allowance

To initiate the creche allowance, contact People & Payroll SupportNow and select category Benefits and subcategory Allowances.

Provide the required documentation:

  • Female team member: birth certificate of the eligible child
  • All other team members: birth certificate of the eligible child and additional relevant documents as applicable; for example:
    • Marriage certificate and death certificate of spouse
    • Divorce and child custody-related documents
    • Legal adoption documents

You will receive an email from People & Payroll SupportNow confirming the start of the creche allowance. Payments will start in the month following approval. Payments will not be backdated or made in arrears.

FAQs

Will the full creche allowance be paid for a child reaching age 5 during the month?

Yes. If your child is less than 5 years old at the start of the month, you will receive the full ₹8,000 creche allowance for that month.

Will I receive the creche allowance for the month in which I leave Gen?

You will receive a prorated creche allowance up to your last working day.

Can I receive the creche allowance for an existing child while on paid maternity leave?

Yes. You will continue to receive the creche allowance for an eligible child during your leave.

Can I receive the creche allowance while on leave without pay (LWP)?

No. You will not be eligible for the creche allowance while on leave without pay (LWP). However, you will be eligible to receive the creche allowance if you are on paid leave, such as privilege leave.
