We know pets are part of the family, so Gen has partnered with Nationwide to offer a group discount for pet insurance. You can purchase comprehensive, affordable coverage for all your pets, in the event they get ill or injured.
Eligibility
All active U.S. team members who work at least 20 hours per week are eligible to enroll. Plus, your eligible family members can take advantage of the savings as long as the coverage and payment arrangements are made in your name.
Plan highlights
Nationwide pet insurance policies cover the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions related to accidental injuries, emergencies, poisonings, and illnesses.
- You can use any vet you want—no network or preapprovals required.
- You choose your level of coverage: 50% or 70% reimbursement.

- X-rays, diagnostic tests, and lab fees
- Treatment
- Hospitalization
- Surgery
- Prescriptions
- Optional wellness coverage is available, covering routine care, vaccinations, annual physical exams, heartworm protection, spay/neuter, teeth cleaning, flea control, and more.
- Your coverage is portable. If you leave Gen for any reason, you can continue your coverage without interruption, though the amount of your premium will increase.
Have an exotic pet?
Nationwide’s avian and exotic pet plan covers birds, rabbits, reptiles, and other exotic pets.
How to enroll
You can enroll at any time. Call 877-738-7874 for a no-obligation quote or to enroll in the pet insurance plan or the avian and exotic pet plan.
You can also enroll online at Nationwide.
Once you enroll, your policy automatically renews every year unless you opt out.
Payment options
Nationwide will bill you directly or you can set up automatic payments using your debit or credit card. A down payment may be required.
Filing a claim
When your pet needs care, pay your veterinarian at the time of service, and then submit your completed claim form and invoices one of three ways:
